SolutionsIQ Agile Coach: Software Engineering (Extreme Programming)

Is your coaching preference to work with individuals and teams on improving their technical practices? SolutionsIQ, a leading provider of Agile consulting, training, and distributed Agile software development, is looking for an Agile XP Coach.

Ideal candidates are experienced Agile developers with the experience to introduce pair programming, test driven development, continuous integration and other technical practices by working side-by-side with developers.

Responsibilities

This position offers opportunities to travel, work with a variety of clients, experience full-time Agile projects, and to learn from leaders in the Agile community. Engagements are anything but typical — consulting assignments will vary from fulfilling the role of ScrumMaster for a novice team, advising a busy Product Owner, developing software with a team, delivering training courses, documenting consulting deliverables, mentoring a team on Agile practices that will take them to the next level, and other similar activities. Often you’ll work with a team for a number of days, while other times you’ll immerse yourself at a customer for a longer duration.

Candidates must be excellent listeners, possess outstanding facilitation and conflict-resolutions skills, and the ability to work in collaborative environments. The candidate will be selected based on their ability to function as a consultant, developer, trainer, and coach, although those in this role may frequently be involved in typical project delivery roles.

Qualifications

Technical skills

  • 10 years or more experience in technology/software organizations
  • Advanced knowledge of the software development lifecycle and of several software development methodologies. Experience with Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Lean Software Development and other Agile methodologies is a plus
  • Senior-level skills in systems architecture, design, development, and programming in object-oriented and relational databases and client server platforms
  • Participate in pair programming with other developers
  • Experienced at mentoring other developers
  • Experience in leading technical teams; skills as coach and consultant to development organizations
  • Experienced software developer or software tester, especially in an Agile environment

Other qualifications

  • Technical or Business degree
  • Certified ScrumMaster; Experience as a working ScrumMaster
  • Experience with processes and tools supporting Agile methodologies
  • Facilitation skills in leading planning meetings, reviews, and retrospectives
  • A willingness to travel

  • Experience developing training materials
  • Experience leading organizational change management
  • Experience developing and growing business with new and existing accounts in a deliberate and strategic manner
  • Experience designing and deploying methodologies in many types of organizations

Personal Characteristics

  • A predisposition to patience and tolerance.
  • Must be comfortable and articulate in challenging change management scenarios, knowing when to insert self and when to fade back.
  • Must be extraordinarily articulate, persuasive, and comfortable interacting with all levels of customers, from line developer to C/VP level.
  • Effective and collaborative team member.
