Building Corporate Learning Functionality into Enterprise Architecture
The rapid evolution of knowledge management and collaboration platforms is challenging the need for "bolt-on," best-of-breed learning management systems (LMS). Now equipped with SCORM-compliant content management and delivery features, many “Enterprise 2.0” platforms offer built-in corporate learning features that enable agile organizations to better integrate the development, delivery and rollout of enterprise processes, content and training. During this two-hour management briefing, Stephen Krempl, entrepreneur and the former VP of Global Learning at Starbucks, discussed how leading edge companies are building corporate learning into their enterprise architecture strategy. He was joined by a representative from Starbucks who described the coffee retail giant's experience with Microsoft SharePoint as a corporate learning platform. At the conclusion, Chris Mayer, Knowledge Management and Collaboration Practice Director at SolutionsIQ, provided a brief demonstration and overview of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server equipped with the SharePoint Learning Kit (SLK) and new training add-ons developed by SolutionsIQ for Microsoft.
